Neurogenetics Clinic

The Neurogenetics Clinic provides genetic counseling, diagnosis and follow-up for patients and families with a wide variety of neurogenetic diseases. The most common conditions seen in this clinic are Huntington’s Disease, Hereditary Ataxia, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia and Familial Dementia including Alzheimer’s disease. Families with various types of Muscular Dystrophies are counseled in collaboration with the University of Washington Muscular Dystrophy Clinic. The Neurogenetics Clinic is located in the Center for Human Development and Disability (CHDD) Building directly south of the University of Washington Medical Center. The clinic usually meets on Tuesdays of each month.

University of Washington Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence

The HD center is partially funded by the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. The emphasis is on diagnosis, counseling and coordination of services for families with HD.

The University MDA-sponsored Muscular Dystrophy Clinic is also affiliated with the Department of Rehabilitative Medicine. Other physicians include B. Jane Distad, MD, Suman Jayadev, MD, Priyank Patel, MD, Matthew Preston, MD, Nassim Rad, MD, Michael Weiss, MD, Leo H. Wang, MD PhD.
