The UW Medicine Movement Disorder Clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for Parkinson’s disease (PD), Huntington’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other neurological conditions from leading experts in the field. As part of the UW Medicine health system, the clinic enables patients to access the latest in research discoveries and clinical innovations.
Faculty and Staff
Ali Samii, MD
Dr. Samii is a UW Professor of Neurology and Co-director of the UW/VA Movement Disorder Fellowship. He divides his time between the UW and the VA Puget Sound. His clinical interests include the management of movement disorders, such as PD, Huntington’s disease, tremor, dystonia, deep brain stimulation (DBS) programming, and botulinum toxin injections. His research interests include DBS; observational, imaging, and therapeutic studies for Huntington’s disease; genetic studies for PD; and epidemiological studies involving neurodegenerative disorders.
Cyrus Zabetian, MD, MS
Dr. Zabetian is a UW Professor of Neurology and Co-director of the UW/VA Movement Disorder Fellowship. He sees patients at the VA Puget Sound. His clinical interests include movement disorders, particularly PD, and neurogenetics. His research is focused on the genetics of neurodegenerative diseases, including PD and dementia with Lewy bodies. Dr. Zabetian is the principal investigator of the Parkinson’s Genetic Research Study (PaGeR), a core leader in the Pacific Udall Center, and Director of the Washington State Parkinson Disease Registry.
Andrew Ko, MD
Dr. Ko is a UW Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center. He rejoined the UW faculty after completing a fellowship in Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery at the Oregon Health & Sciences University. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the UW, and earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He specializes in DBS and other surgical treatments for movement disorders, epilepsy, and pain. His research interests include cortical electrophysiology and brain-computer interfaces; the development of patient-responsive DBS; and the use of novel imaging techniques to improve targeting accuracy and develop new targets for DBS.
Hojoong Mike Kim, MD
Dr. Kim is a UW Associate Professor of Neurology at the UW Medical Center and Chief of the Neurology Section at the VA Puget Sound. He completed the UW/VA Movement Disorder Fellowship in 2008. He specializes in movement disorders, general neurology, and botulinum toxin injections. His research interests include REM sleep behavior disorder and the Washington State Parkinson Disease Registry. Dr. Kim sees patients at the UW Medical Center and at the Seattle and American Lake divisions of the VA Puget Sound.
Shu-Ching Hu, MD, PhD
Dr. Hu is a UW Associate Professor of Neurology at the UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center. He specializes in PD and other movement disorders, including using DBS to treat these disorders. His research interests include genetic and epidemiologic studies of PD, electrophysiology of movement disorders, and biomarkers for gait disorder. Dr. Hu is the local site PI for the Michael J. Fox Foundation Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative study.
Marie Davis, MD, PhD
Dr. Davis is a UW Assistant Professor of Neurology at the UW Medical Center and the VA Puget Sound. She completed the UW/VA Movement Disorder Fellowship in 2015. Her professional interests include genetic movement disorders, such as Huntington’s disease and ataxias, and genetic influences on PD risk. She currently holds a VA Career Development Award focused on understanding the mechanism by which the GBA gene alters susceptibility to PD.
Vicente Martinez, PhD
Dr. Martinez is a UW Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital. His clinical interests include DBS for the treatment of movement disorders as well as intraoperative neuromonitoring during brain and spine surgery. His pre-clinical research interests include the role of dopamine in reward valuation and attention processing.
Anny Lin, MD
Dr. Lin is a UW Assistant Professor of Neurology at the UW Medical Center. She completed the UW/VA Movement Disorder Fellowship in 2018. She specializes in movement disorders, general neurology, and botulinum toxin injections. Her research interests include clinical trials for PD and Huntington’s disease.
Kimmy Su, MD, PhD
Dr. Su is an Acting Assistant Professor and movement disorder specialist at the UW, Seattle VA, and American Lake VA. She completed the UW/VA Movement Disorder Fellowship in 2020.
Dolores Wilson, RN
Dolores “Dee” Wilson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Addictive Behaviors at the UW in 1990 and then earned her RN in 1995. As an RN for the Movement Disorder Neurology Clinic, she is a liaison between patient and providers, answering medication and symptom management questions, scheduling and education, pre-DBS placement workup and referral, and specialty medication needs (e.g. Apokyn injection). She provides encouragement and support for patients and their families working with PT,OT, ST, and resources for support services (e.g. APDA).
Raima Amin, MD
Raima Amin, MD, is a board-certified neurologist specializing in movement disorders.
Dr. Amin believes in patient-centered care and empowering her patients with knowledge about their condition to make the best health decisions. She has a special interest in caring for patients from underserved populations and empowering them with quality health care.
Dr. Amin’s clinical expertise is in movement disorders, including managing Parkinson’s disease, deep brain stimulation, tremors, hemifacial spasm, and Botulinum toxin injections.
Personal Interests
Dr. Amin enjoys cooking international cuisines, reading novels and spending time with her family.
Ben Grannan, MD
Dr. Grannan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery and a Neurosurgeon who specializes in epilepsy, movement disorders and neuromodulation.

Chris Tapia, MD (2023-present)
Dr. Tapia received his MD from Northwestern University and completed a residency in Adult Neurology at St. Louis University Hospital. He completed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at St. Louis University Hospital.
Christopher Adams, M.D. (2022 – present)
Dr. Adams received his MD from Texas Tech Health Science Center El Paso Paul L Foster School of Medicine and completed a residency in Neurology at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston. His research focuses on utilizing neuron-derived blood microRNAs as biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Hirczy received his MD from University of Texas Southwestern and is completing a residency in neurology at University of Texas Southwestern.

Dr. Vojdani received his D.O. from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an Adult Neurology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Nayyar received his MD from St. George’s University and completed a residency at Banner Neuroscience Institute. His research is focused on the neural control of movement and the mechanisms underlying movement impairments in people with Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Nayyar is currently a neurologist at a private practice in Mission Hills, CA
Valerie Olson, MD, PhD (2020 – 2023)
Dr. Olson received her MD from UW and PhD from Yale University. She completed a residency in Neurology at UW. Her research is focused on neuroimaging to better understand Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Olson will be starting at the VA Puget Sound in the near future.
